The Voodoo QX is a 4 channel RC micro slope soarer like no other - its agility is quite simply unmatched by anything on the front face. Its tiny size and unique setup means it will do things nothing else can even attempt. If you have ever seen swallows or bats catching insects then you have some idea of this wee beasty's performance. Not only that but it looks superb, being a semi-scale replica of the F-16 Flanker fighter jet.

While flying the Voodoo does take skill, building it is so simple even a beginner can handle it. In addition, you should easily be able to make it for less than £15. However, be warned, this it is an addictive and highly aerobatic glider that needs a fair degree of skill to handle - while it is virtually indestructible, it is certainly not for beginners! Due to its tiny size you can even leave it in the boot of a car for that impromptu lunchtime flying session. - How much does it cost to build a Voodoo?
- You should be able to build the entire Voodoo QX airframe and cover it for less than £15 ($20). This wee beasty then requires 4 x micro servos, a 4ch RX and an Alula battery pack. In total, the electronics in my Voodoo cost me £25, but this will be dependent on your setup (I use FrSky). However, I’d be very surprised if you didn’t find most of what you need to build and kit out your Voodoo in your workshop, in which case the costs will be far lower.

- How difficult is it to build and how long does it take?
- The Voodoo QX is based on a free-flight glider airframe and does not require any specialist skills or building experience. In fact building it is a great way to learn some basic construction skills that will stand you in good stead for a more complex project. A beginner should be able to complete the build in a leisurely week of evenings or for the more experienced builder a weekend is ample build time.

- Can it be converted to a power model (e.g. brushless motors) ?
-
Absolutely! The Voodoo QX came about because I had seen a simple power conversion of the free flight glider on YouTube. I wanted a more aerobatic conversion of this airframe and decided the slope would be the best place to test it. As this conversion has worked so well, I will probably build another for power with a pusher propeller at the back. It would be very simple to do!
